Dynaudio Special Forty

It has one of our classic first-order crossover designs, incorporating our unique Phase Alignment and Impedance Alignment technologies. The crossover expertly marshals the input signal between the woofer and the tweeter – so each driver gets only the frequencies it’s supposed to, and can perform at its very best. Its specially selected components handle the impedance optimisation and, because both drivers have extended frequency ranges for even better overlap and integration, that performance borders on the mesmerising.

The Special Forty uses our proprietary MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) material for its main driver. MSP delivers precisely the right combination of rigidity, damping and stability for the most faithful sound reproduction.

The cone itself uses a painstakingly developed symmetrical excursion for even better midrange performance. Behind it sits our asymmetrical spider – our passive harmonic rectifier. It minimises upper harmonics to further tighten the performance and make it possible not only to pick out individual parts in a piece of music, but even individual instruments in an orchestra. (So now, finally, the Third Violin section can have its day in the sun.) And, like all our other MSP cones, it’s a one-piece design (you can tell by the special balance ribs around the central dust-cap). This gives it an incredibly solid connection to the voice-coil, as well as stabilising its form – which is crucial when you decide to turn it up to 11.

It all sits in our special AirFlow Basket – the bit that holds the whole driver motor securely in place in the cabinet. Its development was one of those ‘Eureka!’ moments our engineers seem to get a few times a week in Dynaudio Labs (you can often hear them cheering from across the road in our factory). Reduce internal reflections and increase air movement without compromising the basket’s stiffness or stability, and this genius design is what they came up with.

Dynaudio Emit M30

The M30 floorstanders share the same DNA as our top-of-the-line loudspeakers. Their twin 17cm MSP bass drivers each feature a large 75mm aluminium voice-coil (larger voice-coils mean more windings, which means more control over dynamics, detail and finesse), and their 28mm soft-dome tweeters have rear damping chambers for even greater precision. It’s the sort of thing you might expect to see in much higher-priced speakers. And it’s the sort of sound you might expect, too.

The M30s are designed to work just as well in a stereo set-up as they are in a multichannel system.

Dynaudio Emit M20

The Emit M20 is ideal for small- to medium-sized rooms or anywhere where space is limited – such as on a bookshelf or sideboard. You get a 17cm mid/bass driver designed to fill mid-size and larger rooms. The 28mm soft-dome tweeter remains, of course; we’ve spent 40 years working on our tweeters, and until one of our engineers rushes in brandishing something revolutionary and shouting “I’ve done it!” (which, admittedly, does sometimes happen), we see no reason to change.

Dynaudio Emit M10

The M10’s 14cm MSP mid/bass driver and 28mm soft-dome tweeter team up with a first-order crossover and a forgiving linear 6 ohm impedance that lets them play nicely with pretty much any amp you plug them into. The tuned bass-reflex port and long-throw driver are optimised for smaller and mid-size rooms, and our designers have made sure they’ll still work shoved up against a wall or on a shelf – because they know not everyone has (or wants) a dedicated listening room.

ProAc Tablette 10

The new ProAc Tablette 10 is a tenth generation of the Tablettes launched in 1979. The Tablette 10 is an all new design, using a thin walled heavy damped infinite baffle enclosure which is the same as the BBC LS3/5a. This design allows the Tablette 10 to be positioned against the wall, unlike a ported enclosure (not recommended).

The new Tablette 10 has cutting edge new drive units, the bass driver has a Paginna Mika cone which is reed leaves mixed with Mika and coated with an acoustic dope.

The crossover has been specially designed for a sealed enclosure with a network which shapes the response to give a rich bass and an extremely transparent midrange. The tweeter is our well known 1 inch silk dome used in many of ProAc's other models.

During the design several speakers were used as comparison those being the LS3/5a, ProAc D2, Spender BC1 and Quad Esl 57.

We urge people to listen and compare with other makes and models as we are sure you will find the music intoxicating.

ProAc Response DT8 Floorstanding speaker

ProAc invests a great deal of time researching the choice of diaphragm material for their drive units because this is the most important component, transferring cone movement into sound. Some materials excel at certain frequencies and therefore it would prove logical to use more than one type of drive unit material to cover all frequencies. Additionally, all production parts from the chassis through to the magnet system, spider and voice coil are painstakingly selected.

The latest ProAc floor standing design, the new Response DT8, incorporates these design parameters for the first time in a ProAc two-way design. Utilising 2 x 6.5 inch drivers, the pulp mica cone unit delivers exceptional bass performance in a ported cabinet with the bass loaded via side vents and the polypropylene unit gives a smooth, detailed and uncoloured midrange. Both drivers work in tandem resulting in a well extended low frequency response and ProAc's signature natural sounding midrange quality and pinpoint imagery. These frequency ranges are then cleverly overlapped by a new, Stewart Tyler designed, crossover which seamlessly integrates ProAc's proven 1 inch soft dome tweeter, offset on the front baffle, and placed between the 2 drivers.

ProAc Response D30DS/RS Floorstanding speaker

ProAc have updated the D30 to a D30S. Still available in a dome or ribbon tweeter - Response D30DS and D30RS respectively

ProAc have developed a new bass driver using a cone similar to that used in our Response D48, the cone is made from pulp and Mika and is coated with an acoustic dope it also now has a phase plug to improve detail at the crossover point, which will give a more natural sound.

The Response D30S' now offer a beautifully flat response. The new bass driver and crossover will give better mid-range detail and a wider sound stage.

The D30S offers an exceptional accurate portrayal of the music with powerful bass response and excellent midrange detail with low colouration. They also offer a resistive load and are easy to drive. We use a crossover with the finest quality components split for bi-wiring and bi-amping through our beautiful nickel silver terminals.

The new D30DS/RS cabinet dimensions will stay the same and will still be available in Black, Cherry, Mahogany, Maple, Oak and White as standard with extra finishes in Ebony or Rosewood.

ProAc Response D48R Floorstanding speaker

After a year in research and development the D48 is now ready for production.

Areas of improvement have been mid-range detail and a cleaner, faster and more extended bass response. A new studio monitor quality bass driver was designed for the D48. It features a special impregnated cone and mid frequencies are tuned by a cap of greater size than standard. This gives the new unit greater mid-range detail along with excellent bass control giving a tighter and more extended response. The two new bass drivers are each loaded through our special floor loading with side vents, this makes the loudspeaker easier to sight and reacts less to surroundings. The two bass units are then seamlessly mated to our ribbon or dome tweeter depending on your preference. With such a large slim floor standing design the sound stage is superb being very large and with pinpoint imagery. Another achievement for the D48 is its ability to create large orchestral works as well as heavy rock music.

The D48 has a high quality filter network designed by Stewart Tyler comprising of the finest components, ProAc cable on a special board. The filter is also split for bi-amping and bi-wiring. This is one of the best designs from ProAc and should please all audio files regardless of their taste in music.
